Display unit cuts labour December 1st 2004 Scottish potato producer, Taypack, is enjoying easier handling and increased product protection since switching to Linpac Materials Handling's Maxi-Pac bulk display unit.
Previously, the firm which supplies potatoes to the 95 Asda stores north of the Midlands and despatches up to 1600t of produce each week, used paper sacks for several of its Asda lines.
This system required lots of time and labour – decanting produce from large bags into smaller packs, stitching the filled sacks and loading them onto pallets.
The re-usable Maxi-Pac's design incorporates a wheeled pallet base with four-way entry for ease of handling. Changing to the new units has decreased produce handling and the associated risk of product damage and dramatically reduced time and labour. The end of Taypack's packing line is now manned by two staff where previously five were required. More articles from Linpac Materials Handling: |
