RFID systems keep options open

Labelling systems from Sato UK are able to write to and read from the majority of RFID chip standards available today. This is in contrast to many companies that have, says Sato, tied themselves technically into one or other specific standard.

Some years ago SATO Corporation committed itself to the development of an agile (multi-protocol) RFID product range, enabling it to be a full service provider of RFID products.

Its printers program RFID chips at the same time as printing self-adhesive labels or cards.

‘One of the key drives to implement RFID technology is coming from major retailers such as Tesco, Wal-Mart and the world’s fourth largest retail company, the German-based Metro Group,’ said Richard Scott, Sato UK’s RFID business development manager.

As a Gold Partner to the METRO Group, Sato is supplying equipment for the roll out of RFID systems to Metro’s suppliers.
