Capacity doubled
December 1st 2009 It is reported that SSI Schaefer has
successfully doubled capacity at the
distribution centre of television and
internet shopping business, QVC, by
designing and building a new
extension for the storage, orderpicking,
and distribution of over
25,000 products.
The project was executed in phases,
beginning with the installation of 8m
drive-in pallet racking for the storage
of 5000+ fast moving/large volume
goods. The 35m high-bay rack
supported warehouse extension
incorporates flooring, a pallet roller
conveyor system, chain conveyor,
automatic positioning within the
shipping area and two shrinkwrapping
systems, as well as lighting,
heating, power, sprinklers, ventilation,
cranes and a warehouse IT control
system designed with full pallet and
