Efficient and environmental finishing touch August 1st 2007 Bott has invested £175k in a
more efficient and
environmentally friendly
finishing plant at the firm's
Bude factory.
Changes between colours
used to take between three
and four hours, the new
equipment cuts that to 15
minutes, allowing Bott to
respond more quickly to
customer requirements
without disrupting
production lines. A key
environmental benefit is a
reduction in the amount of
epoxy powder used. Around
98% of the powder is
recovered through the
plant's effective extraction
and recycling system. Overall
the plant also uses less
compressed air and
electricity; around 36kW of
electricity, 15% less than its
predecessor.
The new SuperTech plant
has six automatic moving
paint guns and two manual
paint guns. It is
ergonomically designed to
enhance operator comfort
and reduce fatigue. Safety at
the factory will also improve
with a new, hi-tech carbondioxide
explosion protection
system. The system works by
detecting the ultra-violet
signature of a spark,
flooding the extraction and
after filter with carbon
dioxide, all within a fraction
of a second. More articles from Bott Ltd: |
