High density storage system October 1st 2007 Storax has
commissioned the
first installation of
its latest product,
the Storax Ranger.
Hesbaye Frost,
part of Ardo
Group, has
installed 15,000
pallet positions.
The Storax Ranger
is a high density
storage system in
which the pallets
with dimensions
of 1200x800 or
1200x1000 are
moved inside tunnels by a
shuttle operated by remote
control and equipped with
photocells that position the
shuttle under the pallet. It is
made up from lanes
penetrating into racks,
similar to drive-in. These
lanes have rails which serve
to support pallet loads and
act as running rails for the
satellite. The shuttle runs
on to the rails and is
powered by 24V battery
blocks which can be
removed without
immobilising the shuttle.
The loading of the pallet
in each tunnel can be done
by a conventional reachtruck.
Once loaded the
shuttle works independently
marshalling pallets as
required. This system allows
for more pallets to be stored
in a given area when
compared to conventional
static rack.
It also minimises damage
to the rack because the
forklift does not have to
travel into the racking. More articles from Storax Racking Systems Ltd.: |
