UKs first reverse live storage system December 1st 2003 As part of a total turnkey contract, SSI Schaefer has installed what is believed to be the UKs first reverse live storage system at Entertainment UKs new centralised returns warehouse. The facility also benefits from Schaefers pallet racking and single and two-tier shelving systems.
The KDR live storage system features ergonomic design aimed at eliminating unnecessary bending and stretching. As well as a sliding tray on the front face of some storage bays, which allows boxes to be easily moved around, individual workstations also feature a curved front section, allowing additional ease of movement. Angled chutes and fully adjustable roller beds and tracks further contribute to ergonomics.
Incoming returns are repackaged and labelled, before being scanned into the WMS and launched on to the declining live storage tracks for transport by horizontal and elevating roller/belt conveyors into adjoining storage/despatch areas.
In order to maximise available space at the site, different formats are stored in different locations. Dependant on size, quantity, etc., this can either be the high bay pallet store, or the single or two-tier Regal 3000 shelving systems.
Complete with rack floor, the Regal 3000 shelving features fully galvanised uprights and shelves, anti-slip flooring on the upper level and staircase access points, integral shadow-free lighting on both levels, along with upper pallet entry gates. More articles from SSI Schaefer Ltd: |
