Economical alternative to VNA
August 1st 2004 Two Translift Bendi forklifts are reported to have enabled Century Logistics to start a new 3PL contract with Dorel Juvenile in the safest way. As well as enabling high storage density, thanks to its multi-tasking abilities, the Bendi also offers high productivity levels.
Centurys MD, Stephen Basey-Fisher did consider investing in VNA trucks for the operation but felt the downside was increased picking time and the need to have counterbalanced trucks as well.
As a safety conscious company, century has ensured the Bendis have flashing lights, reversing bleepers, side shift and driver keypads.
Reviewing the Bendis benefits, Century believes that the trucks have given a two year payback. This derives from gaining an extra 20% in storage space compared with reach truck operation, and the ability to handle some block stacking and lorry work in the yard.
