High levels of storage density
August 1st 2004 Distribution group, Bowker, is reaping the rewards of choosing the Narrow Aisle Flexi articulated forklift for a new materials handling system in its expanded warehouse facilities. The four-strong fleet of Flexis has enabled the company to achieve the highest possible storage density and implement a more efficient warehouse operation.
Our aim was to maximise the pallet locations but we also wanted the flexibility of using the trucks for unloading and loading, explains director Neil Bowker. By installing two Flexis at our Hull site we have been able to reduce the aisle widths to two metres and have racking 9.5m high, creating 16,000 pallet spaces.
Bowkers Preston warehouse has also been equipped with a new Flexi, enabling storage density to be increased. A fourth Flexi is also operated by Bowker at another location, which it leases to a third party. More articles from Narrow Aisle Flexi: |
