Award winning transit case

As EU targets for recycling of packaging increase, more companies are trying to remove ancillary materials from their packs in favour of all corrugated options. Recently a manufacturer of digital receivers required a new transit pack without separate pre-formed cushioning.

DS Smith Corrugated was asked to produce a one-piece selflocking solution that would offer transit protection against drop tests of up to 0.5m.

The Starpack 2004 award winning design is easy to make up. The sides are assembled first; they hold the pack in shape and also form buffer zones, which are used to take the additional operating equipment for the electronic unit. In addition they provide extra support for the unit and remove any need for further handling of components during the packing operation.
