Silo saves on space and labour December 1st 2005 Collinson has completed a bulk storage and materials handling project for flour and grain merchants, Moorhead and McGavin.
In the past, broken rice had been delivered in one tonne bags, which had to be laboriously unloaded by forklift truck and transferred into the mill, taking up valuable warehouse space.
Enabling deliveries of rice in bulk loads of up to 28t, the Collinson solution is based around a 75t capacity polyester GRP silo.
The new system has resulted in financial and practical benefits including the freeing up of internal space previously used for storage of bagged rice and savings in labour and manual handling. In fact, a reduction of approximately four man hours for every 20 tonnes of rice handled is reported. More articles from Collinson plc: |
