Save Stax with new pallet pack
August 1st 2006

SCA Packaging's Industrial Division has extended its Stax range of Integrated Pallet Solutions with the development of a new standard all fibreboard pallet pack – Stax-Pak.

Stax-Pak incorporates a new design of fibreboard pallet that is very strong, and is manufactured at high speed ensuring cost is minimised. As a result, Stax- Pak is able to compete on price with traditional pallet packs with timber pallets, says the company.

Supplied in kit form, Stax- Pak is quick and simple to assemble. It comprises a sleeve, cap, tray and pallet, designed to fit a1200 x 1000 footprint. The heavy duty sleeve incorporates a Duabond taped and glued joint ensuring the pack is safe to handle and can be utilised in a clean room environment, negating the transfer to separate pallets for export.

Stax-Pak can hold up to 500kg or 250kg per unit when stacked two high. SCA can supply small quantities of the pallet pack off the shelf.

Market manager, Martyn Reader, explains the benefits of the new Stax-Pak: "Following the introduction of ISPM15 we have seen continued demand for timber free pallet packs, particularly in the food and pharmaceutical sectors.

However, most customers are reluctant to pay a premium for the removal of timber, Stax-Pak will give these customers the safety and hygiene benefits without the additional cost."
