30% more warehouse storage June 1st 2005 Two LPG powered Combilift multi-directional forklifts have enabled shower manufacturer Daryl Anodising to reconfigure its warehouse – increasing storage capacity by 30%.
The company takes delivery of mill-finish aluminium extrusions, which leave as highly polished mirror finish components for high quality shower enclosures. The products must be kept in flawless condition.
Operations were previously based around counterbalance trucks and free standing storage of stillages. However, after a review, Daryl’s materials handling supplier, The Carrylift Group, recognised a Combilift truck, together with racking and a guided aisle operation, would make maximum use of space and speed up picking without risking product damage. The 2-3m long raw stillages are now stored in a compact area, next to the machining, anodising and polishing facilities – which is much more practical. Due to the stillages dimensions, Combilift customised the trucks with shorter than standard forks and platform length, enabling aisle widths to be reduced to 1.9m. Combined with the storage height of 3.5m, the better use of space enables the company to take on more orders and expand business. More articles from Combilift Limited: |
