Allibert aids Aston Martin move
April 1st 2005

Aston Martin recently relocated its entire parts supply operation from Newport Pagnell to a larger site at nearby Milton Keynes.

The new larger site was chosen with spare capacity to allow room for growth as needed, and its existing racking was moved to the new site, along with thousands of Allibert Buckhorn plastic containers for parts storage.

However, Aston Martin soon needed to utilise the extra capacity, and turned once more to Allibert Buckhorn. Expanding upwards, Allibert Buckhorn increased the racking height from three to nine metres, while reducing the number of runs from five to three and creating a smaller footprint to make picking easier.

Last year Aston Martin took advantage of the new installation to reconfigure its storage into three distinct areas: long for pallets, medium for long-span storage, and small for Euro containers.

Installed over a seven week period, capacity has been increased from 300 pallets at the old site to over 3,500. Space on long-span racking has doubled from 5,000 to 10,000 locations.
