Fleet services expanding facility April 1st 2004 Order fulfilment and contact centre organisation, Spark Response, is installing a new fleet of Atlet trucks at its expanding warehouse facility in Gateshead. The new trucks have been brought in to cope with business growth that has necessitated the addition of 3700m2 of storage space in the form of a third warehouse.
In the original unit, in excess of 4500m2 is fully racked up to six bays high to make maximum use of space. Three Atlet UNS Tergos are used for full pallet putaway and retrieval, and to replenish the ground-level picking locations from where orders are assembled on to trolleys.
For a DIY superstore client, Spark Response recently acquired a dedicated 3500m2 warehouse adjacent to the main site. Six-high 8m racking provides 2500 pallet locations. At this facility a further three Tergos are similarly used for pallet putaway and to replenish order picking faces. They also retrieve full pallets where required.
Three OPS man-up order pickers, with the ability to operate up to 9m, enable picking from all faces in the racking.
The third unit is configured for multi-client use and is serviced by UNS reach trucks, with OPS man-up trucks used for picking orders from the upper racking levels.
Atlet has also supplied several TPL powered pallet transporters for general handling duties. More articles from Atlet Limited: |
