Phoenix rises to challenge
February 1st 2005 Diamond Phoenix has supplied a SmartDepot VLM (Vertical Lift Module) to Qualtex, Europe's largest manufacturer and distributor of domestic appliance spare parts.
A recent addition of 2000 new stock items of small moving parts meant Qualtex required an effective storage system to improve productivity and efficiency within its distribution centre. The solution was the Diamond Phoenix SmartDepot, which was installed at Qualtex, based in Denton, Manchester, in November 2004.
Philip Hulme, managing director of Qualtex said, “Following a recom-mendation from another supplier, I chose Diamond Phoenix based on its new technology. Seeing its machines in operation at another site reinforced my decision to make this investment.” Nearly 11 metres high, the SmartDepot contains an adjustable rail system supporting a system of trays, which contains the parts being stored.
