Racking and hood does wood good
August 1st 2005

Wales-based building merchants, Boden & Boys, wanted cantilever racking in its new yard but also sought to keep its timber dry. It found Warehouse Systems (WSL) on the internet and faxed its own drawing to WSL senior contracts engineer, Clive Fawthrop, to ask for a quotation and ideas.

B&B considered putting tops on all the racks but Fawthrop suggested spanning the aisles with a roof too, keeping goods protected from the weather. Transparent skylights in the steel sheeted roof means plenty of light is available for working.

Boden & Boys gave WSL the order and installers were on site within weeks.

“We never even met.

Sometimes technology really works beautifully,” says Fawthrop.
