Reliable, unbiased and cost effective storage solution

Following rapid growth, confectionery and newspaper retail chain, Rippleglen, acquired a new central distribution centre in Birmingham. Seeking a reliable, unbiased and cost effective solution for storage and materials handling, chairman Harry Medcalf called on local specialists Abex for advice.

The brief was to make the most efficient use of available space and enable fast loading of pallets on to delivery vehicles. Abex put forward a number of solutions, of which one Tecna 4-wheel counterbalance truck and two Bendi articulated trucks have been chosen.

Rippleglens warehouse manager, Dave Punsheon, says: We have been able to narrow down aisles to 2m, the trucks are on the go non-stop, the drivers are very happy with the choice of forklifts all in all the system is very effective.
