Robust high bay racking solution
December 1st 2005

Planned Storage Systems (PSS) has won a major order from commercial catering equipment specialist, Nisbets, to design, supply and install a VNA (very narrow aisle) racking system for its new facility in Avonmouth near Bristol. PSS is reported to have been awarded the contract for its service, quality products, cost effective solution and project management skills.

In-depth consultations with the client and detailed site surveys allowed the PSS Team to create the optimum solution. PSS removed an existing lightweight welded frame VNA racking system from a 2200m2 area and replaced it with more robust PSS Stronglock high bay racking. According to PSS, Stronglock facilitates a more cost effective maintenance programme to deal with any repairs and renewals throughout the life of the structure.

To maintain operations during the project, PSS carried out the work in two phases. Phase one involved installing racking up to 13.5m high into the nonracked areas of the warehouse. PSS delivered considerable savings by reusing the existing guide rails.
