SDI and LINPAC deliver at Matalan
June 1st 2005

LINPAC Storage Systems has supplied Matalan’s new 32,000m2 DC in Corby with multi-tier pallet live racking, narrow aisle racking and a support structure for a three tier Goods on Hangers (GOH) system.

SDI Greenstone won the contract to design, build and project-manage the installation, and project manager, John Hattersley, invited LINPAC to tender for the racking supply. Needing a solid construction in a short space of time, the company had previously worked with LINPAC on other garment hanging sites. “LINPAC’s bolted design and interference fit makes the entire structure very stable under load,” he says.

Operated by Wincanton, Matalan’s automated DC has been built to store and distribute both boxed and hanging items and will eventually service 90 stores in the South.

Inside the DC reserve pallets and bulk items are stored in a five level narrow aisle pallet racking system designed to store 4,525 pallets of moderately fast moving stock. Fast moving stock is housed in two, 3-tier picking towers of four deep pallet live racking.
