Stow helps IKEA with timely expansion June 1st 2006 Demonstrating its ability to adapt to flexible timescales and specifications, Stow UK has worked with IKEA on the expansion of its Doncaster DC. Initial negotiation for the contract was between IKEA in Sweden and Stow International in Belgium.
The original timescale for the project was 16 weeks, with the work being split into two phases - east and west. The east side was to have 16 aisles with 57 bays, providing 34,713 pallet locations, while the west side was to have 15 double aisles and 2 single aisles, again with 57 bays. Both Euro pallet and IKEA's own bespoke pallets are accommodated.
When, due to high levels of demand, IKEA requested that the timescale for the project be reduced from 16 to 8 weeks, Stow rose to the challenge and was able to complete the project on time and to budget. More articles from Stow UK Limited: |
