Repair costs reduced by 93% February 1st 2006 Twelve months after the implementation of the Rackdefender upright protection system at TDG's Pockington depot, racking repair costs at the facility are reported to have been reduced by 93%.
To reduce the costs and operational effects of racking damage, TDG depot manager, Mike Salloway, chose to invest in Just Barriers' Rackdefenders to protect pallet racking uprights. From previous experience he knew that every upright in the aisle was vulnerable to reach truck impact and therefore warranted protection.
Salloway selected the Rackdefender; an innovative flexible protector which fits around the upright and protects the racking against minor accidental frontal impacts. Although the site has previously used conventional steel column guards it was felt that Rackdefenders would be a more effective and flexible solution. At around half the cost of column guards, the Rackdefenders offered a payback of less than 12 months.
Manufactured from a rubber compound, they are specifically designed to provide impact dispersal and absorption qualities.
Rackdefenders feature a resettable impact warning strip to prompt inspection, helping to eliminate risk of hidden damage. The impact warning strip and ease of inspection makes the Rackdefender an effective means of keeping on top of racking damage, addressing Health and Safety issues associated with racking.
