Shift stock to EU for no-deal Brexit
01 February 2019
Amazon has advised British traders on its platform to prepare for a no-deal Brexit by shifting stock to EU warehouses.
Amazon said sellers should consider moving sufficient stock to a European warehouse by March 17. The UK is scheduled to leave the EU on 29 March. At the moment, products in Amazon's UK warehouses can be delivered freely anywhere in Europe.
But in the event of no deal, in an email Amazon told sellers to “be prepared that any units in a UK fulfilment centre might not be fulfilled cross-border to EU customers”. Amazon said the guidance was designed to ensure sellers plan for all scenarios. In 2017, UK sellers exported around £2.3bn of goods via Amazon globally.
