Walmart ramps up use of inventory robots
17 January 2020
The retailer has announced plans to further deploy robots to assist in-store workers with inventory tasks.
Bossa Nova Robotics will supply its shelf-scanning inventory robot to 1,000 Walmart stores in the US. The firm currently has retail robots in 350 stores.
The six-foot-tall robot does not have arms, so it doesn’t pick or place items or carry out restocking.
The robot is designed to help with scanning inventory.
It scans the shelves looking for missing items, while employees find the right product to replace on the shelf. The latest roll-out is expected to be completed by the summer.
