CycleScheme is a government initiative that aims to cut down on carbon emissions by having fewer vehicles on the road. CycleScheme connects working people and their employers with over 1,200 independent bike shops. Acumen buys the bikes from a participating CycleScheme retailer. The company then 'leases' the bike to the employee and the employee pays off the bike over a set period, which is usually 12 months.
Mike Reilly a lead driver/supervisor at Acumen's Redditch depot says: "I only live a few miles from work, yet the journey normally takes 25 minutes by car. It takes me exactly that long to cycle in and I'm getting more exercise."
