technologies, Swisslog has developed
Vectura pallet cranes.
Swisslog's pallet cranes are an integral element of its modular intralogistics solutions for the Food & Beverage, Retail and Pharmaceutical industries.
The Vectura pallet crane now enjoys increased quality as well as lower energy values, having reduced its weight by 14% and optimised its engineering and assembly.
The company says: "These optimisations have made the Vectura crane an even more competitive product on the market as Swisslog offers customers probably the most energy-efficient crane with higher performance capabilities as well as shorter implementation times." Swisslog's popular pallet crane is already a leading product in the market with over 2,700 cranes installed globally. On-going incremental innovation has been fundamental to maintaining this position over the years, ensuring that Swisslog's solutions have adapted to changing market requirements.
"Swisslog maintain a continuous improvements ethos whereby it constantly seeks to develop its material handling technologies in line with anticipated industry requirements," explains James Sharples, head of UK sales at Swisslog.
SmartCarrier In a further bid to maximise space and efficiency, Swisslog recently launched its new SmartCarrier warehousing and transport system.
At the heart of this new technology are autonomous vehicles (SmartCarriers) which have their own on-board intelligence, making central control of the vehicles unnecessary.
The SmartCarrier transport and storage system for totes is designed for highly dynamic stock management applications. It consists of three components; a racking system, a high-speed double lift, and autonomous robotic carriers.
SmartCarrier's racking system consists of simple shelving and storage locations, integrated into the vehicle transportation track. The system is able to manage without any power supply system since the carriers are equipped with the latest maintenance free energy storage facilities on board. The high speed double lift has a lift carriage which can accommodate two carriers at the same time. The hourly performance of each lift is up to 400 store inputs and retrievals.
