Dampneys Agri Environmental,
based just outside of Bournemouth
and with sites across the West
Country, is the waste sewage
contractor for Wessex Water.
In order to increase the efficiency and traceability of its operations, Dampneys has recently invested in a GPRS data connection system. It transfers truck load data from the RDS Loadmaster 8000i onboard weighing system to the central office via the mobile internet.
The waste handling industry is continually looking for ways to turn by-products from the treatment of sewage into a valuable commodity.
After sewage has gone through an on-site drying process, Dampneys distributes the remaining solid sludge product, known as 'cake', from the treatment plants to farmers who have purchased it in advance from Wessex Water as a cheap, effective fertiliser.
