Picking orders within a warehouse environment can be difficult and time consuming, both for the operative and the manager. Printing orders out, allocating them in priority, finding the right stock, making sure the pick is accurate and monitoring the detailed performance of each operative is all very difficult without the right system in place.
However, with a Real Time WMS managing the operation, things can get a lot slicker. Not only is each warehouse operative helped to pick accurately, but the right system will drive pickers around the warehouse in the shortest walk sequence, picking multiple orders, making use of scanning where applicable, ensuring that replenishments have been done and interleaving PI and Audit checks as they go, the whole operation will notice an overall lift in efficiency almost straight away.
One Snapfulfil client went from paper picking to Real Time RF and at peak last year, picked 10,000 more orders per day, with 40% fewer operatives. In times of economic turmoil, these types of savings can be crucial to the sustainability of the operation. In its recent Magic Quadrant paper on WMS, research firm Gartner described Synergy's Snapfulfil as having "the most unique business model. While it would be considered an on-demand WMS, although not multitenant SaaS, the delivery model is more of a comprehensive managed service, and not simply a software deployment".
