stabau UK has been established as sole distributor of attachments from the premium German attachment brand for the UK. Simon Duddy meets director Alan Scarlett.
Stabau UK directors Alan Scarlett and Mark Wilson are engineers by trade and between them have over 40 years experience in the attachments market in the UK.
Last year, when they decided to set up on their own, they looked to premium German attachment brand stabau, and although Schulte-Henke have been manufacturing attachments for over 30 years they never before had a dedicated UK distributor. The deal was signed in November 2011 and the guys have been very pleased with progress so far and the relationship and support from the German manufacturer.
"There were two key factors that attracted us to stabau. First the quality of the product is excellent. The attachments are superbly engineered and built to last," explains Alan. "stabau are very thorough and professional and their philosophy is like our own, to ensure that the customer gets the right attachment for the application. They want to know all of the parameters of a project and will only supply an attachment if they know it is the right product for the job." Stabau did not establish a distributorship in the UK lightly and it was only the combined experience and service expertise offered by Alan and Mark that convinced them to lend their support and brand to the duo.
The directors are also enthused about the variety available from the stabau range. The company manufactures not just standard attachments like double pallet handlers, rotators, fork, bale & paper roll clamps, but designs and builds bespoke and special attachments for all sectors of industry.
Alan continues: "The strength and quality of the stabau range is a real boon and it opens doors for us. For example, they do fantastic large foundry equipment. The range has meant we are already quoting for a whole raft of varied attachments from fork positioners, bale clamps, special carpet poles, rotators, ladle tipplers to name just a few."
CFTS accredited repairs
Stabau UK operates out of 3,000 sq ft premises in Ashington,
Northumberland and offers CFTS accredited repairs.
The stabau attachments are top quality, robust and hardwearing, Alan says. "So if you want something that will last and perform in demanding applications, then stabau is the attachment you should be using. For example, we have a bale clamp on the front of a telescopic truck, in a very harsh environment and our customer thinks it is the best performing clamp he has ever had." Stabau attachments are built to order at the factory in Germany and delivery lead times are around 6-8 weeks for most standard products, with 10-12 weeks more typical for bespoke designs and special attachments.
"We are very much looking forward to the exhibition. We are in Hall 20 stand 20C135, close to some of the UK's main forklift truck suppliers. We shall have some attachments on the stand for visitors to see and would urge people to come by and have a look at our high quality products," concludes Alan.
