Clothing brand Brax has expanded its logistics centre in Germany where up to 600,000 items of clothing can be sorted and stored. As part of this expansion, the company has invested in automated materials handling equipment and selected Durkopp Fordertechniks Pick Rotor system.
The system can accommodate virtually all standard types of coat hanger for transportation and sortation and also enables a packaging density of up to 45 items per metre. The Durkopp concept uses minimal electricity and a system of 150m in length requires only the same output as that of a standard coffee machine.
The system centres on 32 pick storage systems which collect the goods and place them into the materials handling system which is 20km long.
