Mobile hopper system uses Speedor
11 January 2016
Working with Port of Tyne, Hart Door Systems’ Speedor Storms – the Speedor variant with wind resistance up to Class 5, that is over 90 mph – have been installed on a mobile hopper system which forms a key part of the port’s ship unloading procedure.

Materials such as wood pellets are loaded into hoppers, which simultaneously load directly into lorries driven into the hopper for the purpose. Hart’s Nick Hart says the process generated dust which had to be controlled as a residential area was close-by.
“The hoppers came with rigid doors which blew out as they were rated just to Class 3 and were clearly not fit for purpose. We were invited to resolve the issue and by installing Speedor Storms, rated to Class 5 with exceptional wind resistance together with the automatic action that the Speedor Storms deliver, we have achieved a very satisfactory solution,” he says.
